James Sheparde was inducted to the vicarage of Denham on the 20th May 1550 on the presentation of Sir Robert Southwell and in 1554 became vicar of Hoxne.
James died on the 8th July 1572 and was buried on the 12th. In his will he requested 'to be buried on the north side of the chancel'(Reg. Brygge 478)
